No settings recipes

The notes deliberately avoid fixed aperture, shutter speed or ISO values. The right settings depend on the light, the camera and the picture you want; learn to read the light and let the settings follow.

Rules on location

Opening hours and photography rules for buildings, museums and churches change. Check them on site or with the venue, and follow staff instructions.

People and privacy

Laws on photographing people and publishing their image differ between countries. Ask permission, and respect a refusal.
